Secondary Air Valve Weights
Optimises secondary actuation
to maximise acceleration and prevent engine from
stalling
|
Impulse secondary air valve weights are
made from brass and are much heavier than
the standard steel weights. The heavy brass
weights MUST be used in 4BBL Carter and Edelbrock
carburetors to,
- Maintain a high air velocity through
the carburetor during secondary actuation
for faster acceleration.
- Prevent the powerful vacuum produced
by Negative Pressure Supercharging from
suddenly opening the air valve and stalling
the engine during full throttle.
Therefore, DO NOT use the standard steel
weights, they are too light which will cause
the engine to stall during full throttle.

Please select one of the following
options on the order form
Option 1 - Secondary Air
Valve Weights (2 weights only)
This requires removing the standard steel weights
from the secondary air valve assembly and welding
the heavy Impulse brass weights onto the shaft. The
Impulse brass weights must be welded in a critical
position or the weights may bind on the carburetor
body and prevent secondary actuation.
Option 2 - Secondary Air
Valve Assembly (exchange)
Australian Customers
Send us your secondary air valve assembly in good
condition and we will replace the steel weights with
the heavy Impulse brass weights. DO NOT send us your
secondary air valve assembly if the air valve or shaft
is damaged or modified. Locate another air valve assembly
with the air valve and shaft in good condition. If
ONLY the steel weights are damaged or modified and
the air valve and shaft is in good condition, we will
accept the air valve assembly.
USA and Canadian Customers
Send your secondary air valve assembly to our US
Distributor.
