XHD Supercharger Torque Converter
Extra heavy duty full race converter
with anti-balloon plates should be used to handle
the massive torque produced by Negative Pressure
Supercharging
The XHD supercharger converter is a full race converter which uses extra heavy duty parts and anti-balloon plates to handle the massive low rpm torque produced by Negative Pressure Supercharging and prevent the converter from ballooning. We developed the XHD converter in conjunction with Autoflite Engineering in Australia because typical performance converters failed after several months. Therefore, the XHD converter should be used with the Negative Supercharging Kits.
Note: XHD supercharger converter is included
with the Impulse Crate Engines as standard equipment.
Typical performance converters will gradually balloon and fail with Negative Pressure Supercharging
If full throttle is used several times each week and the vehicle is
not used for towing, standard or typical performance
converters should survive for several years before
they gradually balloon and fail. However, if full
throttle is used excessively each day or the vehicle
is regularly used for towing, standard or typical
performance converters will gradually balloon and
fail after several months from the massive low rpm
torque produced by Negative Pressure Supercharging.
This will also damage the transmission.

* Flash stall is measured by applying
full throttle while the vehicle is traveling at
15mph (25kmh) in 3rd gear and holding the brakes
until the torque converter stalls at the rpm the
rear wheels begin to spin or the vehicle increases
in speed.
