Negative Supercharging Ignition Timing
WARNING: DO NOT use remanufactured electronic distributors
Chrysler electronic distributors are being poorly rebuilt by crooked businesses
Early Chrysler electronic distributors with the heavy advance weights are the most durable and technically advanced distributors ever made. When carefully rebuilt using quality parts, they produce more accurate ignition timing and will out perform any modern aftermarket distributor. Unfortunately, early Chrysler electronic distributors are being so poorly rebuilt by businesses with no ethics or quality control, the remanufactured distributor reduces engine performance compared to a standard distributor in good working condition.
We found the crooked businesses that rebuild the electronic distributors,
- DO NOT replace worn or damaged parts that are so obvious you think their workers are blind
- Are so bloody careless they damage new parts during the rebuild
- Use cheap aftermarket pickup coils that DO NOT align correctly with the reluctor. This causes the vacuum canister to pull the pickup coil away from the reluctor which turns off the ignition during vacuum advance
...instead select one of the following options
If your Chrysler electronic distributor uses heavy advance weights and is...
A) Standard and in good working condition
Fit the Negative Supercharging advance springs to the distributor and replace only the cap and rotor if all the other parts of the distributor are in good working condition. If you are not sure of the distributors condition, take it to a reputable auto electrician and get them to check it, repair the distributor if needed and fit the Negative Supercharging advance springs. DO NOT let the auto electrician exchange your distributor for a remanufactured distributor. If they cannot or will not repair your distributor then take it to a reputable auto electrician who can.
B) Buggered or Remanufactured
DO NOT fit the Negative Supercharging advance springs to the distributor. Buy the new Mopar distributor and take it and your distributor to a reputable auto electrician. Ask the auto electrician to remove the heavy advance weight and shaft assembly from your distributor, repair it if needed, fit the Negative Supercharging advance springs and install the heavy advance weight and shaft assembly into the new Mopar distributor. If you can't find a reputable auto electrician who can do this, then send us your distributor and we will do it.
