Negative Supercharging Ignition Timing

Produces 50 lbs/ft more torque from low to midrange and 10% more fuel economy

OPTION 1: Negative Supercharging advance springs

OPTION 2: New Mopar Electronic Distributor - Upgraded with early Chrysler heavy advance weight and shaft assembly and fitted with Negative Supercharging advance springs

OPTION 3: Recurve your distributor to Negative Supercharging advance curve

Negative Supercharging ignition timing uses a revolutionary new advance curve that produces the following performance improvements in street engines from standard, performance to towing.

  • 50 lbs/ft more torque from idle to midrange
  • 10% more fuel economy
  • Faster acceleration
  • More towing power
  • Eliminates pre-ignition (pinging)

The unique feature of the Negative Supercharging advance curve is that it gradually increases the ignition timing to maximum advance from idle to peak rpm compared to conventional advance curves that immediately increase the ignition timing to maximum advance from idle.

Development of the Negative Supercharging advance curve
We developed the Negative Supercharging advance curve to maximise power and prevent pre-ignition (pinging) with the faster burn produced by Negative Pressure Supercharging. After extensive testing with low and high octane fuel we determined the maximum ignition advance our supercharged 6 and V8 engines will tolerate before pre-ignition (pinging) at full throttle from idle to peak rpm with 35°C (95°F) outside air temperatures. We also finely tuned this unique advance curve on the dyno by determining the optimum ignition advance that produced the maximum power from idle to peak rpm. We discovered that more or less than 25° advance from idle to midrange reduced power and the more ignition advance produced by conventional advance curves from midrange to peak rpm also reduced power even if pre-ignition (pinging) was not audible.

History
We developed the Negative Supercharging advance curve in 1993 to maximise power and prevent pre-ignition (pinging) with the faster burn produced by Negative Pressure Supercharging. However, we found this new advance curve also improves power and eliminates pre-ignition (pinging) in street engines from standard, performance to towing. We introduced the Negative Supercharging advance curve as a new product in 2004. Our History explains why we waited 11 years.
