Requirements
EV8
Fuel injected and gas vehicles fitted with a catalytic converter
2", 2 1/2", 3" exhaust systems
6 1/2" (165mm)
1/4" wider than the inlet pipe diameter
For example, 2" EV8 muffler has 2 1/4" width, 2 1/2" EV8 muffler has 2 3/4" width, etc
1 x EV8 muffler is required per side
EV8 muffler must be fitted in FRONT of the catalytic converter
EV16
Carbureted, fuel injected, gas and diesel vehicles NOT fitted with a catalytic converter
Diesel vehicles fitted with a catalytic converter and particulate (smoke) filter
2", 2 1/2", 3", 4", 5", 6" exhaust systems
3 1/2" (90mm)
1/2" wider than the inlet pipe diameter
For example, 2" EV16 muffler has 2 1/2" width, 2 1/2" EV16 muffler has 3" width, etc
4 x EV16 mufflers are required per side
Additional EV16 mufflers may be used to further reduce toxic emissions, increase power or reduce noise
EV164
Same as EV16
9 1/4" (235mm)
Same as EV16
1 x EV164 muffler is required per side
Additional EV164 mufflers may be used to further reduce toxic emissions, increase power or reduce noise
NOTE
EV164 muffler uses 4 x EV16 mufflers built into 1 muffler
Using either 1 long EV164 muffler or 4 short EV16 mufflers per side produces the same results. However, the short EV16 muffler allows more mufflers to be fitted to any part of the exhaust system to further reduce toxic emissions, increase power or reduce noise
Additional benefits of the Impulse EV8 muffler
Reduces toxic emissions to near ZERO with vehicles that use a catalytic converter
Substantially reduces cold start emissions by reducing the time from 15 minutes to 2 minutes it takes catalytic converters to reach the high temperature needed for them to work
Allows ALL performance parts to be fitted to pollution controlled vehicles with NO increase in toxic emissions
Makes ALL vehicles from old to new comply with current emission/noise legislation
Increases power and reduces noise whether the exhaust system is standard, restrictive or performance
Allows the use of noisy free flow mufflers to further increase power while reducing noise like restrictive mufflers
Protects the fragile catalytic converter from the many factors that damage and render it useless such as, 1) misfire, 2) carbon contamination from short trip driving, 3) rich fuel mixture, 4) high hydrocarbon (HC) emissions, 5) oil contamination, 6) contaminated fuel, 7) high sulphur fuel, 8) leaded fuel, 9) engine coolant, 10) chemical additives, 11) silicone contamination from sealants and 12) thermal shock. For more details see facts you should know about catalytic converters

Additional benefits of the Impulse EV16 and EV164 mufflers
Substantially reduces toxic emissions with vehicles that do NOT use a catalytic converter
Substantially reduces cold start emissions
Allows ALL performance parts to be fitted to non-pollution controlled vehicles with NO increase in toxic emissions
Makes ALL vehicles from old to new comply with current emission/noise legislation
Increases power and reduces noise whether the exhaust system is standard, restrictive or performance
Allows the use of noisy free flow mufflers to further increase power while reducing noise like restrictive mufflers
Reduces diesel emissions to a much lower level than diesel catalytic converters and particulate (smoke) filters
Vapourises the particulates produced by diesel vehicles instead of collecting the smoke and restricting gas flow like particulate filters
Increases the power and fuel efficiency of diesel vehicles instead of reducing it as do diesel catalytic converters and particulate filters
Vapourises the exhaust smoke produced by worn engines
Reduces toxic emissions to near ZERO with vehicles that use Negative Pressure Supercharging and do NOT use a catalytic converter
Makes carbureted vehicles that use Negative Pressure Supercharging and NO catalytic converter run CLEANER than today’s fuel injected vehicles that use catalytic converters

History
We developed the Impulse EV muffler in 2006 as a compact performance muffler that has the same size as a typical exhaust pipe and produces less exhaust noise and more power than straight through mufflers with large housings. However, the unique core design of the EV muffler was a breakthrough in pollution control technology because it also reduced toxic emissions to near zero. Therefore, we introduced the Impulse EV muffler as a new product in 2007.
